PUBG Mobile has been around for a long time and ever since it was released for all mobile platforms, the game has been highly regarded for its console-quality graphics and gameplay style. While the battle royale style gameplay was enough on its own to make it superhit, it is the graphics quality that makes PUBG Mobile stand apart from all other mobile games. On powerful phones like the OnePlus 7 Pro or Nubia Red Magic 3, you will get the best visual experience. However, gamers have always demanded smoother frame rates to make the gameplay more immersive. And sure enough, the PUBG Mobile team listened.

In the latest PUBG Mobile patch 0.13.5, the game receives a new graphics setting that aims to improve the experience. Under the frame rate settings, you will find a new option called Extreme. This option will offer players a higher frame rate than the existing ones. For those who have bought purpose-built gaming phones, this is an answer from the God of gaming. Players can now actually take advantage of the high refresh rate screens on phones like the OnePlus 7 Pro and Nubia Red Magic 3.

While the Extreme frame rate setting is good for gamers, the PUBG Mobile team says that there’s a drawback to this high frame rate setting. With Extreme frame rate setting, players will experience higher battery drain than usual. Therefore, the higher frame setting should only be used if there’s a quick way to charge up the phone.

We tried the Extreme frame rate setting for a few short matches and on the BlackShark 2, which is a gaming phone, the experience was smoother than usual. All camera movements and animations now look smoother than before, which certainly helps with the gameplay.

There are also a couple of things that the latest patch 0.13.5 brings with itself. The Season 8 replaces the Season 7 and brings with itself a lot of ocean themed in-game products. Two new subscription services – Elite Pass and Elite Pass Plus.

In terms of weapons, the team has added a new PP-19 sub-machinegun that fires 9mm ammunition and can be used in Vikendi as well as Erangel. The weapon can be equipped with scopes and muzzle attachments and can be equipped with all scopes from the Red Dot Sight or the Holographic Sight to the 6x Scope, and all muzzle accessories available for submachine guns.

Additionally, for iOS devices, the game can now download new patches and updates in the background, which means players can go back to the homescreen while the game is updating. And to add a cherry to the cake, a new theme background score will be introduced composed by Alan Walker for PMCO.

The new patch will be downloaded automatically once the game is started and players won’t have to wait for an update from the Play Store.
